Artists / MARY SHERMAN (US)
Delay answers the question: What if you could hear a painting? With the aid of machines, the multisensory installation takes painting into the realm of time with sound. It stems from Mary Sherman’s love affair with paint, with the desire to know everything about this love – including what it sounds like. And, in this and other ways, Delay references Duchamp’s Large Glass, The Bride Stripped Bare by her Bachelors even–originally titled Delay–which also takes on impossible love.
