IRRADIER. IRRADIATE

Architectural projection with sound component

IRRADIER. IRRADIATE is a projection that draws on invisible and inaudible electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) through which living beings wade and wander on a daily basis. The EMF visualizations are generated by live readings, using open source software (Gqrx-SDR), a wind gauge and an antenna, to render the intensification and densification of wireless communications signals in urban settings. With its huge scale, minimalist colours, and vibrating lines, this noise-to-signal scape conveys to city dwellers the immersiveness and non-consenting new forms of radiation, as pollution. Irradiated – exposed, treated, and enlightened – from and within machines, they now co-constitute bodily vibrations.
